Collaboration

A patient-centered approach to medicine.

The historical tendency in medicine has been to place medical professionals at the center of the health care process, often referring to them as "healers." However, in reality, it is only the patient's body that can heal (a natural process). Doctors, nurses and health care organizations and institutions are merely "facilitators", providing various technical services and supporting the patient in his/her decisions.

We are committed to a patient-centered approach to medicine, called collaboration, which provides you with the information you need to make an informed decision about your health care. Experience has shown that patients who participate in the decision-making process have less anxiety before their surgery and recover more quickly after surgery.

As part of our collaborative approach to medicine we may provide you with various educational materials that describe your condition and outline various treatment options. We encourage you to study this material carefully.

The ultimate goal of the collaborative process is the best possible treatment and recovery for you, the patient.
